Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh (fabric) to support an ink-blocking stencil, which forms open areas that transfer ink or other printable materials to create an image onto a substrate. This process of using a mesh-based stencil to apply ink onto a substrate is most common in t-shirts, posters, stickers, vinyl, wood, etc.
It can also be created by coating a stencil with an impermeable substance, from which ink is then forced into the open areas, which is known as silk screen printing. One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multi-colored image or design.
